powerpoint in the classroom
I really enjoyed using powerpoint because it takes away from the old teaching style of just standing up front and lecturing. Kids are stimulated by visuals, technology and interaction, so I think powerpoint is a great enhancer for any lesson. In my afterschool program, I know some third graders who are currently creating thier own powerpoint in school. It gives them room for creativity using technology, and shows them different ways to present information.

we just have to be careful not to overdd the powerpoint. there was a teacher in my high school who every day (and not all that well )taught from powerpoint. it then went from being stimulating to boring
ReplyDeleteGood morning.
ReplyDeleteI was just discussing with another student from our Edu 350 class about how Prof. Mislevy has opened up a new world and new way of thinking about teaching...for me anyway. Microsoft Office was introduced many years after I graduated from High School and although I later became familiar with many of the products later on, the concept of using many of them in the classroom (esp. Powerpoint) I personally would not have considered.
I am truly enjoying the presentations that were given thus far. Keep up the good work all!!!
I enjoy teaching with power point a lot as well, but i think i need a lot more time to sit and think about how i can be more creative with it.
